Minutes of the OVH Club Meeting
October 17, 2005
Ruth/KU4WH called meeting to order at 2002 Eastern Time.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, all present stated their names and call signs. There were 21 OVH members and one guest present.
BUSINESS MEETING
The minutes of the September 2005 OVH meeting were approved with no corrections.
Bill/N3OH read the Treasurers Report.
COMMITTEES
REPEATERS Butch/W4JHL There was just one small problem with a connector on the 220 machine, and that has been fixed. The antenna job should be done soon. Parts have been found for the 440 machine and it should be up and running soon.
ARES David / KI4AZX noted that the change to standard time is coming on the last full weekend of October and that we need to change batteries in various items, especially fire detectors.
JOTA Ruth/KU4WH - We had a relatively small turnout of scouts, but all went very well anyway. We had 12 OVH members show up.
WEEKLY NETS John/KG4NXT All is going well and John will have a new schedule for net controllers for the new year.
FAR Ruth/KU4WH The last publication of Auto Call has gone to press.
MEMBERSHIP John/WA1STU Patrick Innes / W4TQI was read in and will be voted on for membership into the OVH at the November 2005 meeting.
BPL George/K4GVT George gave us a briefing on the current situation with BPL. There will be a meeting regarding Manassas BPL on October 28, 2005 at 10:00 at Manassas Electric. The City of Manassas claims to have BPL available for all Manassas households.
PACKET AND WEBPAGE Bill/N3OH The OVH node is still running, but Bills is down for the near term. The web server is back up and running and the server is also now faster.
FIELD DAY John/WA1STU John and graciously volunteered to be the OVH Field Day Chairman for 2006. John asked for input and ideas for the 2006 OVH Field Day.
OVH HOLIDAY PARTY Ruth/KU4WH Ruth announced that the 2005 OVH Holiday Party will be held once again at the home of John and Theresa Heartney on December 10, 2005. Thank you John and Theresa for your warm hospitality.
ARES Steve/N4OGR - The Marine Corps Marathon is coming up and there are still slots available for hams. The date is October 29, 2005. The Red Cross was given 2.5 acres by Lockheed Martin. The Red Cross is going to build a new chapter house. The plan is for a 12,000 square foot facility. They would like to know what we would like to have in terms of a radio room.
50/50 - $40 was collected. John/KG4NXT won and donated his portion of the 50/50 raffle back to the Club. Thank you John.
